Today we are releasing CowSync 2.0. CowSync started as a genetics tool for Wagyu breeders. With CowSync 2.0 it becomes a full ranch office as well: health and breeding records, books and invoices, payments, team chat and a way to keep working when the signal drops, all in one place and all built around Wagyu.
Here is a plain tour of what is new and what it means for your day.
What's new in CowSync 2.0
- The Workspace: your ranch office, with a daily briefing and a tile for every tool
- Herd health and breeding records that set up their own follow-ups
- A ledger built around Schedule F, a finance dashboard and 13 ranch calculators
- Invoices, bills of sale and 11 Wagyu agreement templates
- CowPay for getting paid and paying people (launching in test mode)
- Messages for team chat
- Cloud mode for working without signal
- Redesigned genetics tools
- A new Guide with step-by-step help for every screen
The Workspace
The Workspace home is the first stop each morning. It greets you with today's jobs from your calendar, the weather at your ranch, and a Needs attention list: overdue tasks, animals in withdrawal, cows due to calve within three weeks, low medicine, low feed, low straws, overdue invoices and shifts to approve. Click a bar and it takes you to the tool that fixes it.
A Simple / Advanced switch sits at the top. Simple shows only the everyday tools and hides the AI bars. Advanced shows everything. Your records are the same either way.
Most Workspace tools have an AI assistant bar in Advanced mode. Type "Cow 52 calved a bull calf today, 72 lb, log it and remind me to register it" and it drafts the records. Nothing is saved until you check them and click Apply.
Herd health and breeding
- Herd Health covers vaccinations, treatments, withdrawal clear-to-sell dates and your medicine cabinet.
- Heat & AI log records heats, synch steps and services, with return-check and due dates worked out.
- Breeding season board shows every female as To breed, Bred, Pregnant, Open or Calved, built from your records.
- Preg checks & calving works out due dates from fetal age and keeps full BIF calving records.
- Semen & embryo tank, ET / IVF, DNA & genetic conditions and a Registration tracker round it out.
The tools talk to each other. Log an AI and a return-heat check and a preg check land on your calendar, one straw comes out of the tank, and the cow moves on the breeding board. Each of these automations can be switched off.
Money: ledger, Schedule F and invoices
The Expenses & income ledger is a ranch checkbook with categories that follow Schedule F lines, plus Wagyu lines like semen, embryos, ET / IVF fees, DNA tests and registrations. Snap a receipt, split a bill, set up recurring entries, and at year end print a Schedule F summary and export a file for your accountant. It is not tax advice, so talk to your tax professional.
The Finance dashboard pulls costs and sales from across the Workspace into charts and budgets. The 13 ranch calculators cover breeding, feeding, finishing, money and dosing. Invoices & bills of sale handle live animals, semen, embryos and services, with guarantees and signatures, and the 11 agreement templates cover semen and embryo sales, leases, boarding, AI and flush services and syndication.
CowPay
CowPay lets buyers pay your invoices online by bank transfer or card, lets you pay your crew and vendors, and books every dollar into the ledger. A bank transfer costs 0.8%, never more than $5. CowPay is launching in test mode, so no real money moves yet. Ranch cards for your hands are coming soon.
Team chat with Messages
Messages is a group chat for the ranch. Make rooms like #calving-crew, send direct messages, share photos and files, and use commands like /weather or /task. Mention @cowgpt in a room and CowGPT answers for the whole crew to see. Team members only see what you allow, area by area.
Cloud mode
Out of signal? Cloud mode saves a copy of your records on your phone, tablet or computer so you can keep working, then syncs your changes when you are back online. Save a fresh copy before you head out and keep logging.
Redesigned genetics tools
The genetics tools CowSync started with have been redesigned. The Predictor shows the likely range of calves from a pairing, with genetic conditions and inbreeding. The Mating Planner is a board where you lay out sires and dams, chain calves into later generations and save plans in folders. The Simulator projects a sire across your herd for several generations. Each works with American EPDs, Australian WBVs or Akaushi values.
The new Guide
Every tool now has a page in the CowSync Guide, written in plain words with step-by-step instructions and pictures of each screen. If you are ever unsure what a button does, start there.
Also on the way
A few things are not finished yet, and we want to be clear about them. The Marketplace for buying and selling cattle and genetics is open to an early-access group. Email integration is coming soon. CowPay ranch cards and direct deposit are coming soon. We will post here when each one is ready.
Thank you to every rancher who told us what was missing. CowSync 2.0 is built from those conversations. Sign in and take a look around, and let us know what you think.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to change anything to get CowSync 2.0?
No. Sign in as usual. The Updates page, under Resources, shows which version you are on.
Is the new Workspace hard to learn?
Start in Simple mode, which shows only the everyday tools. Each tool has a step-by-step page in the Guide, and you can add more tools as you go.
Can CowPay take real payments yet?
Not yet. CowPay is in test mode while it launches, so no real money moves. You can still record payments by hand on any invoice.
